Never been upside down, or chasing a longer freestanding hold — every drill scales to you. Ninety minutes, small group.
That’s the ninety minutes.Sunday 13 September · £30 early bird
Book your place →Two coaches on the floor: Elliott Staley — nearly a decade of handstand practice, and the coach behind every London Handstand Academy workshop — alongside Suryava, gymnastics and calisthenics coach. Small group, two sets of eyes, so you get seen.
Nearly a decade of personal handstand practice, blending yoga, calisthenics and movement coaching. Elliott coaches private 1-2-1 clients — beginner through to advanced one-arm foundations — building functional strength, stable foundations and real control through structured guidance.
Over eight years in gymnastics — training it and coaching it. Brings a gymnast's discipline to calisthenics: proper progressions, honest assessment, and real strength on rings, muscle-ups and the straight-arm work most people skip past.
The workshop runs at OverGravity Gymnastics — a proper gymnastics space in Shadwell, East London, with the walls, mats and height a press session actually needs.
No. This is the one workshop in the calendar with no prerequisite at all — no wall hold, no strength standard, no experience. If you can put your hands on the floor, you can come.
You have never taken weight on your hands. This workshop was designed around you, and there will be others in the room in exactly the same position. You will spend the session at the wall and you will leave having held a handstand.
You get the second half's individual work — line diagnosis, finger pressure, and correction strategy, on camera. You will be pushed, and grouped with people at your level rather than averaged into the middle.
If you are holding 20+ seconds freestanding and want one-arm work, a 90-minute group session is the wrong tool — ongoing coaching will serve you far better. Everyone else: come.
Real feedback from people who've trained with us at OverGravity — including a review filmed this week.
Genuinely the first time handstand training has been broken down in a way that made sense to me. Left knowing exactly what to work on.
Small group, proper hands-on coaching, and a real progression to take home. Worth every penny.
Every level, actually catered for.Small group, Sunday 13 September at OverGravity, Shadwell.
Book your place →None at all. Complete beginners are the group this workshop was designed around, and there will be others in the room in exactly the same position. If you have never taken weight on your hands, you are in the right place.
No. The second half splits by ability and you get individual correction on your line and your balance strategy, filmed. The only people it does not suit are those holding 20+ seconds who want one-arm work — that needs ongoing coaching, not a group session.
OverGravity Gymnastics in Shadwell, East London. Nearest stations are Shadwell (DLR and Overground) and Wapping. It is a proper gymnastics facility, so sprung floor and matting rather than a hard studio floor.
Normal training kit you can move in, and a water bottle. Bare feet or socks — no shoes on the mats. Bring your phone if you want your before and after clips.
Usually yes, and the first block is built to help. Tell me when you book so I can plan around it — there are wall and forearm variations for almost everything. If you are in acute pain or recently injured, see a physio first.
Let me know at least 48 hours before and I will move you to the next workshop. Inside 48 hours the place has usually already been turned away, so I cannot refund it — but message me anyway and I will do what I can.
Not certain it is for you, or want to know what the ninety minutes actually look like? Send a question and you'll get an honest answer — including if the answer is "come to this one instead".
Small group, no prerequisites, everyone working at their own edge. Sunday 13 September, 10:30–12:00, at OverGravity, Shadwell, London.
